TBolts and Cropdusters Will Duke it Out for Final Time Tonight at Blair

SILVER SPRING, JULY 19—The Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts (11-24) have seen their last two games postponed due to weather conditions in the DMV. Tonight, the skies appear to be clear as they face the Olney Cropdusters (23-11) for the eighth and final time this summer.

Last Wednesday, the Thunderbolts fell to the Cropdusters 8-2 at First Responder Field.

The Cropdusters are a perfect 7-0 against Silver Spring-Takoma this season. In their last three meetings, the Olney pitching staff has punished the TBolts’ bats in a brutal manner. In their 7-1 loss on June 26, the Thunderbolts had three hits. In their 11-3 home loss on July 6, the TBolts had four hits. Just four days ago, they recorded three hits at First Responder Field, and fell 8-2.

In those three games, the Cropdusters struck out a combined 23 times, while Silver Spring-Takoma were K’d 24 times. Both of these teams rank highly in the strikeout category this summer, with the TBolts sitting at 275, and the Cropdusters with 272.

Griffin Roussell (Point Park) was scheduled to pitch yesterday against Bethesda before the game was wiped out. Tonight, the righty gets another chance to toe the rubber at Blair Stadium. The righty made one start against Olney on June 4, where he allowed five hits and struck out one Cropduster. In total, Roussell has thrown 22 innings and has struck out 13 batters this summer.
