TBolts Look to Raise Aces in Resumed Rainout Tonight at Blair
SILVER SPRING, JULY 14—Tonight, the Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts (10-22) will play the Alexandria Aces (14-17) at Blair Stadium in a resumed matchup from July 5. Heading into this game, TBolts have already have a strong hand over the Aces; they currently lead 3-0 entering the top of the third inning.
Last week, the Silver Spring-Takoma got off to a speedy start over Alexandria at Blair. Sam Camacho Jr. (Clarion) and Cam Baker (Indian River State) both had RBI knocks, and Matthew Kim (Hampden-Sydney) authored a sac fly. After the second inning, the game was suspended due to a thunderstorm that began to brew.
The Thunderbolts are looking to make it three-of-a-kind over the Aces in 2026. Silver Spring-Takoma is currently 2-1 against Alexandria, and both wins have come in frantic fashion. Their first victory came in a 20-0 shutout at Blair on June 15. Five days later, the Thunderbolts posted a 14-run seventh inning in a thrilling 19-8 comeback win at Frank Mann Field.
Thunderbolts pitcher Noah Tofan (Sul Ross State) toiled with the Aces on July 5, but will not continue his work tonight. Instead, Zach Bortner (Frederick CC) will make his sixth pitching appearance of the season. The lefty out of York, PA has thrown 15 innings and has struck out 16 batters so far in 2026.
Aces outfielder Daniel McGinnis (Eastern Mennonite) is always a name to watch out for. The All-Star is hitting .374 with 24 RBIs and eight extra-base hits in 27 games this summer. Elijah Grant (Presbyterian) has also been grinding well Alexandria. He holds a .307 average with 21 RBIs and a league-leading 22 stolen bases.

For Silver Spring-Takoma, second baseman Aydin Prell (Dickinson) and outfielder Trent Lopez (Cornell) have both devoured pitching at the plate. In his last five games, Prell is batting 5-12 with eight RBIs, two doubles, a home run, and four walks. Likewise, Lopez is 5-18 with six RBIs, two doubles, two home runs, and five walks.
This is the final game between the Aces and Thunderbolts this summer, and it should be an exciting show at Blair. Once again, action will start at the top of the third inning with the TBolts up 3-0. Fans should also be advised that there will be no grilled food served at concessions today. First pitch is set for 7 P.M. with Brian Alves and Peter Kelly broadcasting on the Thunderbolts YouTube channel.
