TBolts Take on Braves Tonight in a Resumed Doubleheader
LORTON, JULY 11—On June 12, the Silver Spring-Takoma Thunderbolts (8-21) squared off with the Metro SoCo Braves (13-14) at Blair Stadium. In that game, Thunderbolts pitcher Christian Dray (Richmond) worked an electric 1-2-3 first inning, and outfielder Caleb Sturtevant (Millersville) made a highlight catch in center field. However, the game was quickly postponed after cracks of thunder yielded a rainout at Blair.
Instead of Silver Spring, the Thunderbolts will head to Lorton, VA tonight to battle the Braves at South County High School. At 5 P.M., this suspended game will start in the second inning. Afterward, the TBolts and Braves will play their originally scheduled 7 P.M. matchup.

Fittingly, the TBolts coaching staff will let Dray continue his work on the bump and finish what he started almost a full month ago. Thus far, Dray has established himself as the ace of this Thunderbolts pitching staff. The righty has a 1.17 ERA through five starts, and just put together a masterful performance for the Ripken League All-Stars this past Tuesday.
Dray and the pitching staff will look to continue their poised pitching from last night. In total, the TBolts allowed just two hits en route to their 11-3 victory over the DC Grays at Catholic University. In that victory, Catcher Mason Kelleher (Frostburg St.) and shortstop Colin Gibbs (Delaware) both showed out with picturesque performances. Kelleher went 4-4 with three RBIs, while Gibbs went 3-6 with two RBIs and five assists.
The Braves are looking to bounce back after a grueling 9-4 loss to the Olney Cropdusters. Without question, Metro SoCo has multiple players who are capable of having consistent multi-hit days. This includes All-Stars Nadav Machlin (Paris JC), Robert Kelly (Monmouth), and Collin Lott (Northern St.).
Once again, the first pitch is set for 5 P.M. at South County High School. Tune into the Thunderbolts YouTube channel to hear Patrick Moran and Brian Alves give you the call for both games.
